  • what's up doc?

I am back (again)....busy busy summer.

*sigh* but its good; full of blessings, and God's faithfulness...

    Home:

garden is going like gangbusters, can't believe the bounty we have received so far...and more yet to come!

we are considering moving into another home....we are waiting to find out if the house is even available, and if it is...more info to follow.

We have added a couple of new critters to our already full zoo!  we now have a a baby bunny (rescued by hubsters in the woods) as yet unnamed.  He belongs to Will...

Abi was given a darling little kitten from her little friend Spencer.  He was already named Ammo, so he was given the added name of Ammo Spencer....what can I say, she gives credit where credit is due :)

    Abi:

she's seeing a counselor to help develop better self management skills, has undergone a outside speech evaluation and is recommended a pretty intensive therapy plan, waiting on insurance approval.....Occupational therapy is tomorrow...things are still unclear, exept one thing: she needs the help.  There isn't an exact diagnosis...but she's believed to be on the Autism spectrum just what that means remains to be truly seen just yet.

Swim lessons twice a week for the wee ones, and a family pass for all the rest of us.  Lots of time spent at the

    library reading, playing, exploring....

All good times..we are truly blessed.

Matt is working, and I am happy to have him home everynight.  Things are well.  God is soo so good.

  • going on a timeout

You know what?  I like taking things by storm, doing the unexpected, and sometimes I like being predictable.  I am gonna take a couple weeks off, with little to no internet.  I like this idea, we are busy with kids, garden, and doing "stuff".  Moneys tight and I elected to let my internet go for a bit.  I am gonna focus on the house, and the kids, and getting things but away for winter.  It's a busy time with the first of the garden coming ripe, so I am busy.  Hoping that everyone is well, that God is blessing you too!

I will return soon, hopefully by the end of next month...

  • RUNAWAY!

I am planning to run away....oh the dreams of flight that I have. The places I would go, the things I would do.  Sometimes I think about running away with my husband for a few days...just him and I....other times and more commonly I dream of going away by myself, with a friend or really all by myself......for a day or a weekend.  Nothing special, just sleeping throught the night, and into a less bitter time of the early morning (anything later than 3 is less bitter in my book).

Well it's really happening, it took my (glorious) Mother in Law calling and saying "Can Christy come out and play?" but it is happening.  I leave Friday at lunch time (leaving kids w/ sitter) to head up to my nieces graduation, I will stay the night at my SIL's house. Saturday my freshly graduated niece, my proud momma/SIL, my proud gramma/MIL, and I will head to PDX.  There we are checking ourselves into a hotel (already booked thank you very much MIL), and chillin' throught the night.  There are beds, swimming pools, hot tubs, wine, and chatting, catching up, and sleep oh glorious sleep~!

I won't come home until Sunday.

    I

  • First Monday of Summer Break

    0808150007

    (Here's Abi w/ Gramma)

So it begins today, summer break!  Today marks the first of oodles of appointments for Abigail, today she begins therapy.  It's been a long, trying and sometimes tear marked journey to reach this point. Abi is blooming, and in a wide span of "catching up", and it's hard for an outsider to see the things that we have been struggling with for years.  As a child with  Asperger Syndrome, its hard to see the "specific issues" she faces, because  in addition she has some language barriers as well.  She's doing quite well in school, all things considered academically ; socially she's a sort of odd duck.  The girl who only a couple of kids will play with, and is often teased excessively, and shunned.  She feels that pain a lot.  So our goal this summer, is to work on some sensory issues, keep up with her speech therapy and largely work on her social skills.  Help her to learn to read social cues, body language from other kids, and to be able to come up with appropriate social responses.  It's a tall order, but she has a good team, and I feel confident it will be successful!

Donovan has the rest of baseball season and football camp consuming the lion's share of his time this month.  We have our nephew visiting until Friday, when I will most likely return him home when I go watch my niece graduate from HS/College.  Swim lessons start on the 30th and will occur twice a week, for 5 weeks for the two little kids. So it is shaping up to be a very full summer.  I am not doing any babysitting, other than the occasional fill in here and there....and the revolving run of nephews and nieces coming to visit (we like visitors)....I am so excited that we have such an opportunity filled summer.

I do praise God for taking such good care of us this past winter, had it not been for him, we wouldn't be in a position to do what we are able to for our kids now.

Off to get some more stuff done before the kids start to wake up!

  • The Garden

This garden has been a visual demonstration of God's walk with us this spring.  Well for me at least...

Because Matt was laid of from his regular logging job for 6 months (economy, not so much weather); we qualified for and recieved Food Stamps.  I don't know if many folks know this, but you can by fruit/vegetable seeds and plants with your foodstamps.  So as soon as the stock was getting put on the shelves we were buying up seeds for our garden this summer.  God provided us with the means, so we acted!  My husband did all the building of the beds by hand, and turned the soil by hand (no rototiller) several times.  When we needed compost the money for it would be available.  Once again God provided us with the means, so we acted!  The kids all picked rocks, hauled weeds, raked, etc... but it's been so worth the work! Just look!~

these beds follow the length of the fenced across the front of the yard in 6 foot sections. Starting w/ tomatoes and pepper, then cucumbers, then bush green beans and onions. Next is carrots with brocolli and cabbage.  PEAS!, then lettuces/ spinach, tomatillos  radishes and dill.0808230027

This is looking down from the deck there in the cresent are ornamental corn and pumpkins.

This fantastic thing was built at the last minute when we realized we'd bought way more plants than we had room for.  The bottom is squash (summer varieties) the top is the kids whatever they wanted ....corn, peas, beans, squash. Its a cacophony of the bizarre, but fun! And it's all coming up! :)

this is also looking down from the deck, more tomatoes, cukes and a zuchini plant....and one lone transplanted rhubarb from the grandparents :)

This happy little view is by the back door....it's colorful, pretty and filled w/ herbs for the kitchen...it makes me smile :)

Well that's all for today.  I just watch this grow and bloom and think....wow...I am but a seed and look what he does w/ me....I hope I grow and bloom so I am pleasing to the Father, like this garden is to me....
