  • The time has come the walrus said....

I love listening to the nonsense of Alice in Wonderland....sometimes, it does make perfect sense...does it not? My wee ones don't watch many of the Classic Disney movies these days, as they are growing and moving on to other things...but that particular one...seems to endure.

We had a late night last night; late being getting home after 9pm and we being me and the kids.  D had a double header against their big rival yesterday.  I must confess, there is a smidge of satisfaction in watching our boys play so well, that they won both games.  D pitched two full innings, and most of a third at the end of the second game.  The first two innings were total shut outs, the third he had two outs before his arm gave out and he started walking kids.  They don't train him much so his endurance is really about just that...two and a half innings.  Its a shame he's really pretty good.  But there so are several other boys on the team...

I didn't blog, but D's birthday was Saturday....he turned 12.  Shocking.  I am flabbergasted that I have 6 more years w/ him at home before college. only. 6.  He's determined to go straight to college, and to do something.  I have a mother's heart bursting with pride for him.  For his birthday, we opted on for an "experience" gift.  Rather then buying him things, we thought we'd provide him with an opportunity to learn, travel and have fun.  We are sending him to the Oregon State University Football Camp at the end of the month.  It's really a spendy endeavor, so thanks grandparents and auntie who chipped in to help make this a possibility. He will get to train with Mike Riley and his coaching staff, not to mention stay on the University campus for three full nights in the dorms.  Eat in the commissary, and run w/ the big dogs.

He's a blessing, and I am trying to learn not to fret.  God has blessed us with this child with a strong sense of right and wrong, a heart for God, and a strong grounded sense of purpose.  He seems to have a natural ability for football, and the drive and desire to play hard.  The planner is me sees this as an opportunity to further round him out in his "school resume" as he works towards being college bound.

Well I had better go water the garden....blessings all!
